Quality and production
Naturiga’s Spirulina is grown on an island in the Hainan region in the South China Sea, surrounded by rich forests, protected from urban and agricultural pollution, with a pristine tropical climate and air and highly mineralised water, called the “local Hawaii” of the region.
Spirulina is grown in man-made ponds with highly mineralised, drinking water quality groundwater, thus keeping it away from toxins and heavy metals that will pass through from outside.
Long hours of sunlight provide ideal conditions for spirulina grown in warm and alkaline conditions.
It is meticulously checked for mercury, lead, and all other harmful components. In addition, the pools where spirulina algae grow are regularly tested for pH value and bacteria.
Spirulina is harvested with a fine mesh sieve that catches the algae from the water. The sieved spirulina is transferred to the washing pool and washed by hand.
The wet spirulina seaweed is placed in a drying chamber which quickly evaporates all moisture while retaining its nutrient content and is then ground to a fine green powder, placed in large airtight sacks, and shipped by sea to the UK to undergo the European Union Soil Association organic farming certification compliance tests.
Spirulina, which wins the organic agriculture certificate in accordance with the European Union standards, is imported from Europe by the Naturiga team and brought to our country. At the import stage, the tests deemed appropriate by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Türkiye are carried out by independent laboratories and finally, it obtains Ecocert organic agriculture certificate in our country.
The most important point to be considered when buying spirulina is to make sure that it is a certified product grown according to the principles of organic agriculture and has passed all necessary tests.
